During production, works closely with the actors to make sure they convey the message the story requires through different methods such as facial expression or tone of voice. Also works with the Director of Photography to see what a particular shot will look like and if it is appropriate to where the story is going.

He received his MFA in directing from Penn State in 1999, after having worked professionally for fifteen years as a director, actor, stage manager, and teacher. Born and raised in Wilmington , Delaware , he attended the University of Delaware where he studied communications . He received his BFA in acting/directi ng from the University of New Mexico in 1982, graduating magna cum laude with distinction .
